N.J. delegation seeks return of pollution spotters

Members of the New Jersey's congressional delegation are among the bipartisan chorus of New Jerseyans calling for the federal government to restore its program for spotting beach pollution.

Each summer, the Environmental Protection Agency's Coastal Crusader helicopters have monitored the waters along the Atlantic Coast for debris - such as trash, oil slicks and algal blooms - known as floatables. The helicopter also collects water samples to determine the health of shellfish.
