Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) introduced the Growing Small Businesses Act (H.R. 4063), new legislation that would make more training and resources available to low- and moderate-income (LMI) prospective entrepreneurs. The Growing Small Businesses Act would remove barriers that currently prevent most workforce development providers from offering entrepreneurship training.

  • Federal grant will allow Jersey City to hire 30 new firefighters

    Menendez along with Rep. Albio Sires and Rep. Donald Payne, had urged Jersey City to apply for the grant.

     

    The Jersey City Fire Department received a $6.87 million federal grant for the Jersey City Fire Department that will help replace or retain 49 firefighters who either previously retired or whose positions were slated for elimination due to municipal budget constraints. The department intends to hire 30 new firefighters.

The amendment was introduced by Rep Donald Payne, D-NJ, and was originally introduced by Payne in August as HR 2962, the Saving More American Resources Today (SMART) Grid Study Act of 2013.
